At Tân Hiệp Phát, to be of service to our communities is part of our core values but there are certain commitments toward the next generations that carry more than the usual weight. THP holds a special tender spot for children who have been through life-altering experiences like the loss of a parent or both. For years, we make the commitment to support orphaned children with steady presence and encouragement that we continue to believe in them and their futures.
That belief carries particular meanings for THP’s founder, Dr. Thanh, who as a boy lost his mother young and spent part of his own childhood in an orphanage in the highlands of Đà Lạt. He lives as a strong proof that real greatness can grow out of profound loss and hardship, and he upholds the same hope and empathy for others. His conviction now takes shape in two long-term partnerships dedicated to supporting orphans until they turn eighteen. “Cùng con đi tiếp cuộc đời” (Walking Forward in Life with You), which THP built with Báo Thanh Niên (Youth Newspaper) in 2022, supports fifty children orphaned by Covid-19. “Cùng em vững bước tương lai” (Steadfast Toward the Future with You), which THP joined in 2025, stands behind An Ninh Thủ Đô’s Bầu ơi thương lấy bí cùng (National Security’s Solidarity’s Compassion) fund — nearly thirty years in operation — in caring for the children of Hà Nội’s fallen police officers. The sources of grief are different, but the programs focus on helping children overcome the same profound loss of a parent, or, in many cases, both.
In one home no larger than ten square meters, a father raises two young daughters and looks after his own aging parents, three years after Covid-19 took his wife. His four-year-old daughter is still working through delays in speech and development that surfaced after the loss. THP mentors provide frequent encouragement that goes beyond financial support during each visit to his home in Ho Chi Minh City. In Hà Nội, another child has grown up with similar grief. His father passed away in the line of duty before he was old enough to really know him, and the fund has provided support ever since. Both children did not ask for the story they were handed, but both are being given care and support to write past it.
None of this happens on its own. It sits inside a longer pattern: across three decades building from a tiny home workshop into Vietnam’s leading beverage maker, THP has treated community investment as inseparable from the business itself, never a line added once the numbers are settled. This same instinct funds many scholarships across four provinces, partners with national television’s humanitarian program, donates water filters and supplies fresh water to families facing the Mekong’s salt intrusion, and readily mobilizes supplies to communities affected by floods and typhoons. The company also invests millions of dollars to cut tens of thousands of tons of plastic waste as it has scaled up. This same spirit of dedication to the communities which have supported THP’s business is now helping the next generation. As the company’s own leadership has put it, THP’s growth is inseparable from a chain of value owed to workers, partners, consumers, and the most vulnerable among them. A child who has lost a parent still belongs, in the truest sense, to that chain of value, and we will continue to walk forward with them.
“… THP’s growth is inseparable from a chain of value owed to workers, partners, consumers, and the most vulnerable among them.”
